Advanced Views: Acres by County or Jurisdiction

Some properties straddle jurisdictions or counties, which can present a challenge if you need to count the number of acres you protect in each location. The most accurate way to obtain those counts is by using multiple Parcels within the affected Property record. This article describes how to use Data Viewer to capture this data.

Once you have established this framework within your Portfolio, you can use Data Viewer to summarize acreage by county, jurisdiction, state, etc. Start with a query of Portfolio Records where the Number of Sub-Records is 0:

This tells the Data Viewer to search all records and only display those which do not have child records. The logic of this query eliminates the duplicate counting of acres when summarizing a Size field.


Then, in the results list, select at least a jurisdictional field and your desired acreage field (Current Size, Conservation Size, or Original Size). You will see a list of results that accurately displays the acreage by the chosen definitive area:

Finally, Group these results to summarize the acreage. Note that when the records are grouped, the area's acreage subtotal is automatically calculated and displayed:
