FAQ: Why don't I see a finished site visit in the web app?
Answer: There are three common causes when a user attempted a site visit in the Landscape mobile app, but you aren't yet seeing it in the web app:
- The user hasn't synchronized their mobile app yet.
Ask them to confirm that they're connected to Wi-Fi, then open up the mobile app and hit the 'sync' button (the spinning arrows). Keep the device awake during the entire sync process. If no errors are reported at the end of the process, then the site visit has been uploaded successfully.
- The user collected the site visit data into the wrong record.
If the user selects the wrong record in the initial site visit creation step in the mobile app, then it will be synchronized to that record. You can usually find it using the Data Viewer, as described in the callout below.
Finding a misplaced Site Visit with Data Viewer
Head to the 'Data Viewer' tab, and pull up 'All Site Visits'. Add any columns that might be useful — 'Time Spent Name' will allow you to see the monitor, for example — then sort the list by End Date. You may be able to find it just by looking at the date. Note that the record name won't matter, since presumably it was collected in the wrong record.
Click the option to display your results as a map, then open the map layers menu and toggle the 'Site Visits' layer ON. Zoom into the area that they monitored and try selecting different points. If you find a point that corresponds with the visit, click on the 'Site Visit' hyperlink in the popup to navigate to that record.

Use the 'copy' function described in this article to copy the site visit to the correct record once you've located it.
- The user never started the site visit.
If the user did not tap 'START VISIT' while in the field, but instead went straight to the map view of the mobile app, then unfortunately no data was recorded; the app needs explicit instruction to begin tracking the user's location. However, if the user took photos with their device's camera (or any other camera), those photos can still be added to the site visit by following these instructions: How to Upload Site Visit Photos if You Didn't Use the Landscape Mobile App. If the photos are geotagged, the user may even be able to draw a rough estimation of the route they took.
