How to use the 'General' layers
If you need to show map data which is related to a specific record but can't be tied to a specific work item, then you can use the 'General' layers to do so. Many organizations use this layer to map building envelopes or protection zones within their holdings, although you could also track these within the 'Tracked Rights' or 'Human Use Limits' work item layers.
General layers are not appropriate for tracking site visit points, issue areas, etc., since these have clearly defined work items that they can be placed into.
General layers are editable from the map on the Details or Work tab of a record.
The Related General layer displays this layer from any other directly related records. For example, when viewing a Group record, it would show the General layer for any related Property.
'General' layers was previously referred to as 'Record-Specific' layers.
