How to merge multiple property records into a single property

Occasionally you may need to merge together two or more property records. Merging together property records will combine their acreage, interests, and acquisition and general details. It will attempt to find and eliminate duplicates if they exist (for example, if both belong to the same jurisdiction, it won't enter the same jurisdiction twice). It will also consolidate all work items and communications. This method also works for merging Parcels together, or for merging a Parcel into a Property.

Merging two or more distinct property records using Data Viewer:

Use this method if the property records do not already have a relationship between them (e.g., they do not belong to the same Group).

Start with a view like 'All Records'. Select the properties you wish to combine, then click 'Merge records'. Note that 'Merge records' will not appear unless you have made at least one selection.

Select which record you want to merge that data into from the dropdown list that appears; for example, if you are merging 'Upper Property' and 'Lower Property', and you want both records to become part of the 'Upper Property' record, select 'Upper Property'.

After you click 'OK', the property you did not select in the dropdown menu will become part of the property you did select. It will cease to exist on its own. You may want to add the name of the "lost" record to the Alias field to redirect users to the correct record.
